The Story

We don’t like making anything about us, but we’re always asked how Concert Chick Productions, LLC came to be, especially since it’s so very different from what we do in our primary jobs, so we’re going to put an end to the inquiry straight away, be done with it, and then move on.

First, let us say that Concert Chick Productions, LLC exists simply because the business is so very different from what we do during the day.  There’s really nothing more to it than that.  We all need a way to decompress, wind down, chill out, relax, recharge, and otherwise shake off the stress that is all too often a natural consequence of working these days.  Common escapes include watching television or movies, reading or even writing books, soaking in a hot tub, cooking a delicious meal, or surfing the net.  We find calm in these activities at times, too.  But mostly, getting lost  in creative pursuits is where it’s at for us, so we established Concert Chick Productions, LLC as our escape.  Here’s the story of how it hatched.

dream it, believe it, just do it

jimmy-eats-wormThe story as told by Denise:  First, let me explain where the term “Concert Chick” came from.  It all started in that mosh pit in May, 2002.  Green Day  was playing with green-dayJohnny Eats Worm or something like that.  I had front row seats.  Cool.  The only thing, there were no seats.  I was in a mosh pit!   What is that and what the heck was I doing in it?  What was anyone doing there?   The answers came easily.  As for me, I just wanted to be with my man.  As for the others, they just wanted to be smashing, stomping, trampling, and squeezing the life out of each other.  Apparently, way back when, we used to simply dance to the music and maybe (likely) devour a big greasy breakfast on the way home and then take two aspirins in the morning.  Today, you squash the person next to you as the tunes play and then call an ambulance.

I noticed the presence of a certain species in and near the pit.  Not the kids you’d expect-Goths, punks, and even geeks-but a creature even more interesting, even more intriguing than the kid whose face was pierced with safety pins in multiple locations (now, that’s safe…convenient, too, if your pants rip in the pit as some stranger pins you down).  Since that memorable evening, I’ve enjoyed many concerts and see the same type-stereotypes, I suppose, caricatures even.  They typically sport long flowing locks and bee stung lips, and are well-endowed and scantily clad.  Essentially, Pamela Anderson clones.

Most of these girls were gorgeous, and I’m sure that if I got to know them, I’d find that they were smart and witty, too.  Many minutes, perhaps hours, maybe even days, were obviously spent pruning and plucking their feathers. They were determined to reach certain goals, including, but certainly not limited to, a backstage pass, access to VIP areas, a hop on the tour bus, or at least a free cocktail or two.  I dubbed them “concert chicks” and the name stuck, just like those safety pins and Restalyne injections.

And now, how Concert Chick Productions came to be.  Fast forward a few years.  Joe won a contest that had us packing for Amsterdam and Belgium to enjoy a couple of music festivals.  The events were attended by thousands, but we saw only one or two concert chicks (apparently made in America).  But, we did see a ton of really clever tee shirts (made in China) and thought, “hey, we could do that”!  It was just a thought…a simple “could.”

Then in August, 2007, while enjoying a four hour silent hike with a group of girls (hey, it’s possible!) at the Canyon Ranch Spa in Arizona, I had an “aha!” moment.  Whether the 100+° temperature simmered my creative juices to the point of boiling or perhaps it was the constant poking of cactus needles that woke me up to my dream, we’ll never know, but I do know that for at least three of those four hours, everything fell into place.  My first words back in the van when the silence was broken were “does anyone have a pen?” and when presented with one, I filled up every space on the inside and outside of my lunch bag with all sorts of ideas for our tee shirt company.  We moved from “could” to “should”.

france-5th-anniversaryWhen I returned home, Joe and I went to one of our favorite restaurants, Charlie’s Crab in Palm Beach, and, over a couple bottles of divine wine, some tantalizing appetizers, and a decadent dessert, Concert Chick Productions was born.  We’d offer tee shirts with positive music-related messages and then expand into other products. We’d provide the vehicle for others to offer their creations, firmly believing that there’s abundance for all.  We’d create an entire on-line global community for individuals to learn, grow, exchange information, and buy meaningful stuff created from the heart.  The company rock star would be a little chick named Rox, whose presence would be on all of our products-sort of like the little pony or gator, but so much cuter.  Who could resist? The whole world would fall in love with her.  She’d bring out everyone’s happy, true self one tee at a time.  Could-Should-Would!

The story as told by Joe:  What she said, of course, with one modification: It’s Jimmy Eat World, not Johnny Eat Worm.  See what a great team we make?

Enough about us!  It’s time to meet the real star of the show…Rox.

Meet Rox:  The Original Concert Chick

Here’s Rox, the original Concert ChickTM.  You have to admit, she’s really cute.concertchickc32a-a04bt04a-z

All chicks have a story to tell, including Rox.  Perhaps her story is your story and vice versa because it’s a funny, real thing how that happens.  Here’s Rox’s story.

chocolate-bunniesOnce upon a time, on Easter Sunday, in the very sparkly coastal village of Cap d’Antibes, located in the South of France, a gold foil-wrapped chocolate egg was rocking and rolling around the green grass peepsthat lined the basket, pushing Peeps®, jelly beans, and fancy chocolate bunnies out of its way.  Then the egg came to a halt.  It started to crack-foil  splitting, chocolate shell parting-and out popped the tiny head of a fuzzy yellow chick.  A star was born!!!

Rox  believed that since she actually survived the gold wrapped dark rich chocolate egg hatching she was nothing less than a miracle.  She knew then that she would be blessed with many more miracles in her life.  So, with a wave of her wing and a cheerful “au revoir”, she ventured out into the world in search of adventure. She hopped aboard the largest yacht heading to America.

No matter where she found herself on our planet, she noticed that everyone loved music.  Music made people happy and music brought people together.  They sang and they danced, as if they had not a care in the world.  When Rox discovered music, she discovered herself.  She knew there was still so much to learn, and she gladly accepted the challenge because she wanted to be the best Rox she could be!  And along the way, she wanted to help others grow, too, because she knew that every chick made a valuable contribution to the world in their own special, unique way.

Rox really liked going to concerts. There were only two places where she couldn’t perch…in the backstage area and on the band’s tour bus.  Rox dreamed of having access to these areas, and knew that dreams would come true if she wished hard enough AND took action.  So she started to observe how other chicks got backstage and on the bus.  Rox compiled a list of ten things she could do to increase her odds of getting backstage and on the bus.  After working through her list and still not realizing her dreams, she decided that she’d just be herself…an original Concert Chick!   And then all her dreams came true! Rox got backstage and on the bus simply by being her wonderful self.

Rox’s complete life story will be coming soon to our Swag lounge.

Meet Your Inner Concert Chick: Take the Concert Chick Quiz

Are you an original Concert Chick?  Of course you are!  But we have to ask because even though you were born an original Concert Chick, sometimes your essence is clouded a bit through experiences with people, places, and things.  That’s life!  Use the quiz below to show  just how amazing you are–and we already know VERY–but you may also become aware of things you believe will bring you back to the real you with a bit of intention and attention.  Find out by circling the music note in front of the statements below that ring true for you.  And yes, we know that you can’t really place circles on your computer screen, but you get it.

Music inspires, motivates, and moves me.  I go with the flow.

I believe that dreams come true.

I am enough and I have enough, right at this very moment.

♫  I have worn a tiara.

♫  I usually wear a tiara AND a boa AND really cool sunglasses!

I am an original me, not some cheep imitation of some other chick.

I rock the world with my upbeat energy and good vibrations.

I let others be, recognizing that the world would be quite boring if we were all the same. I embrace differences.

I march to my own drummer,  enjoying  life one step at a time.

I wear fabulous shoes and glitter.

I sing my own song.  I am not afraid to speak up and be heard.

I know when to shut up and listen.

I don’t chirp about others.  I ignore the cluckers.  I know that what goes around, comes around.

I honor & respect myself & all peeps.

I mean what I say, and say what I mean.  I am never, ever a mean chick.  I play nice with others.

I dance to my own music.  I keep moving, evolving, and growing.  Slowly, but surely.

I wear sparkles during the day.  I share my brilliance with the world in all ways.

I show up my best self, do what’s right, and follow my bliss.

I stand tall with confidence, front & center.

I live my life as an exclamation, not as an explanation.

I believe that everything should be enjoyed in moderation, with the exception of shoes.  Need many!

The more notes you circle, the closer you are to being your authentic self, an original Concert Chick! If you circled all of them, CONGRATULATIONS!!!  Please let us know by sending an e-mail to Rox. She would love to send you a round of applause.  In the meantime, take a bow now and buy yourself some smashing shoes (and a Concert Chick tee!) as a reward for being so dang wonderful!
